Internet Explorer 5.0

Enabling address bar searching in IE5

If you like running searches from the address bar you will need to re-enable this feature in IE5. Note that IE5 overrides TweakUI's search engine settings. If you are looking to continue using, say, HotBot, from the address bar you are looking in vain. Microsoft also no longer offers HotBot as a search engine choice. You will have to stick to one of the engines Microsoft offers. To enable address bar searching follow the steps below.

Open the search pane.
Click on Customize.
Click on Autosearch Settings at the bottom of the page.
Choose a search engine to use for the address bar.

Note, that setting up Autosearch continues to allow you to search for Web pages from the search panel.

Adding Alexa's "What's related?" to the IE5 Toolbar

Alexa is the service behind the often found "What's related?" button you may have encountered on the Web or in Netscape Navigator. If, say, you visit a newpaper's page Alexa will show you a list of other news related Web sites. You can add the Alexa Web Accessory to your toolbar by following these steps:

Right-click the browser toolbar.
Select Customize.
Find the Related toolbar button on the left hand side.
Select the button and click on Add.
